✅ What is a Lump-Sum Refund?

A Lump-Sum Refund is a reimbursement of National Pension contributions made by a foreigner while working in Korea, if certain conditions are met. It is provided when the foreigner is no longer eligible to participate in the Korean pension system.

1. Eligibility for Lump-Sum Refund

You may apply for a lump-sum refund if any of the following apply:

1.1. Nationality

• You are a citizen of a country that does not have a Social Security Agreement with Korea.
• OR, you are from a country with a Social Security Agreement that permits refunds (some countries don’t).

1.2. Residency

• You have completely departed Korea, and
• You are no longer eligible to contribute to the Korean National Pension.

1.3. Contribution Period

• You contributed to the Korean pension system for less than 10 years and
• You do not qualify for a monthly pension (old-age pension).

• You can apply before or after leaving Korea.
• If applying from overseas, you must apply within 5 years after your departure. After 5 years, the refund may expire.

외국인이 국민연금 가입기간이 10년 미만이고, 더 이상 한국에서 연금을 받을 수 없게 된 경우, 납부한 보험료를 일시금으로 환급해 주는 제도입니다.

1. 반환일시금 신청 자격 (Eligibility)

다음 요건 중 하나라도 해당하면 신청할 수 있습니다:

1. 국적 요건
   • 대한민국과 사회보장협정이 없는 국가 국민
   • 또는 협정이 있어도 반환일시금 수급을 허용한 국가 국민
2. 체류 요건
   • 한국을 완전히 출국하거나,
   • 더 이상 국민연금 가입 자격이 없는 외국인
3. 가입기간 요건
   • 가입기간이 10년 미만이고, 연금 수급요건(노령연금 등)에 해당하지 않는 경우

2. 신청 시기

• 출국 전 또는 출국 후 신청 가능
• 출국 후 신청하는 경우에는 출국일로부터 5년 이내 신청해야 함 (5년 경과 시 소멸)
